AROUND WoodHaven
Three Island's 900 acres of structured waters are home to the walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, crappie, sunfish, and yellow perch. It is one of the best, yet least known, fishing lakes in the Bemidji Area.
Within minutes of Woodhaven are two 18-hole golf courses, excellent restaurants, shopping centers, movie theatres, the Paul Bunyan Playhouse, hiking, and much more for the entire family.
Hiking and Mountain Biking
Take a hike! See what the Three Island Park North Trail has to offer. The trail is about 3 miles long, from the North trailhead: 7007 Island View Drive North East, to the South trailhead: 6701 3 Island Road North East.
The trail is lightly trafficked, kid-friendly, and great for all skill levels. During the summer, enjoy the wilderness and birdwatching while hiking or mountain biking through the forest along the Three Island Lake. In the winter, the trail is set up for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
A variety of recreational trails are available next door at the Three Island Park which is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places as an archeological site.
Fishing and Boating
Bemidji area has many lakes in the area that has public access.
The resort has private access for your boat (please, no jet skiis) on Three Island Lake. Don't have one? No problem, a 14' aluminum fishing boat with outboards are available to rent on a weekly bases. Two pontoons are available to rent on a weekly basis as well. The lake is nice and quiet, with lots of loons to listen to from a kayak or canoe.
Bemidji
Take a trip downtown to the Bemidji Sculpture Walk and immerse yourself into the unique cultural arts. The sculptures are updated every year to guarantee a unique experience year after year.
Be sure to bring your camera to pose for a photo in front of the icon of Northern Minnesota, Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. Near the statue is a beautiful park on the Mississippi River, a tourist information center, and across the street is an ice cream shop.
Several museums in the area are sure to provide a rich learning environment for you and your family.
